Brian Milonas vs John Walters

Third match, to my surprise, was the returning "Hurricane" John Walters taking on the big man Brian Milonas. I was excited for this match to see how these two would blend a technical style with that of a powerhouse. Not to my surprise, they did a great job with an outstanding match that got the crowd back in to things in a big way. Milonas got a good amount of heel heat when the crowd started chanting "Truffle Shuffle"! For any "Goonies" fans out there, you know this reference all too well.

Both men started things out early with a feeling out process until Milonas called for a test of strength which Walters all too readily accepted. Almost immediately, Walters was on his knees at the mercy of the big man until he rolled forward reversing the advantage and maintaining the lock the entire time. Walters, ever the technician, went right to work on the big man's leg, putting him in a tough submission hold that looked certain to cripple Milonas. The big man powered out of the move with some stiff shots to Walters and the tide turned in a flash with one huge backbreaker that stunned the Hurricane. The two battled back and forth, trying to gain an advantage on their opponent with neither man able to do so until Walters's intensity broke out and he began battering his opponent into the corner. As Milonas dropped to his knees, Walters came off of the top rope with a modified missile drop kick to the top of Milonas's head. With his opponent downed, Walters called for the Sharp Shooter to the crowd who cheered in approval. As he began placing Milonas's in the crippling hold, the big man snapped up and grabbed Walters by the neck. Then, making his way back to his feet, he hit Walters with a sit down double choke slam that seemed certain to end the match. Milonas went for the pinfall but Walter was able to kick out and again the Methuen fans went nuts. Milonas's then went for his choke slam but Walters fought out with multiple elbow strikes and out of nowhere rolled Milonas up for the pinfall victory.

Terrific match on the part of both men! If I had one critique on the match it would be on the part of Milonas's, typically he works a perfect big mans match but on a few occasions in this match, he hit his downed opponent with a head butt and an elbow which didn't make a lot of sense to me. You have this tremendous size and power advantage and you hit him with little elbows? The hell with that! Smash that guy with a splash to the ribs or a big leg drop. Maybe I'm nit picking, fantastic match.
