Lyonz's Three Strike Challenge - Andre Lyonz vs John Walters
After an intermission of Low Ki $10.00 Polaroid's and Dr. Tom autographs, we are
onto the second half of the card and "Hurricane" John Walters taking on "Hi-Flyin'"
Andre Lyonz in a third strike match. Andre had been stipulated by Chaotic Wrestling
to win a match in his next three attempts or he would be fired from the company. This
shot at Walters was set up to be his third strike after previous losses to Low Ki and
Austin Aries.
The apparently outmatched Lyonz was dominated by Walters early on as he stretched
his younger opponent in a variety of ways with ease. Walters seemed to be on cruise
control until Lyonz disrespected him and lit a fire in the "Hurricane". As a matter
of fact, this had both men fired up and all of a sudden this match became competitive.
A hungry and driven Lyonz pulled out all the stops against a man who has fought wars
in the ring. Lyonz was successful with going toe-to-toe with one of the fastest rising
stars in the country. An aggressive Lyonz fought viscously as he choked Walters across
the ropes and stretched him in a Boston Crab. Walters, a true mat technician, attempted
an unexpected high-risk maneuver from the top rope and landed with a devastating cross
body, except he hit referee Fat Pants Sinclair. Both men then took each other out with
a double clothesline. This became the pinnacle of the match as both men really went all
out for the victory, landing some devastating attacks and coming close to victory with
repeated near pinfalls. Walter stretched Lyonz with a sharpshooter, then Lyonz powered
Walters into a powerbomb. Back and forth the action went until Walters landed his patented
Gory Driver finisher and it seemed certain that he had the victory, but NO! Only the
TWO count and the fans were on their feet. At this point, I found myself routing for
Lyonz, who once appeared to be totally outmatched but fought back to create one of
the most competitive matches I've seen. But all hopes for Lyonz were dashed as Walters
hit a second Gory Driver to end the match as well as the Chaotic Wrestling career
for Andre Lyonz. Walters and the fans began taunting Lyonz and he was then escorted
out of the building into the snowy night by Tony Omega and the Omega security force.
At first, I questioned why Andre Lyonz was voted the 2004 Break Out Star of the Year,
but after this match, I certainly knew why. The fans were on their feet for this match
and offered a great round of applause, an applause only matched by the one they offered
Lyonz when he was kicked out of the building into the cold winter night.
